anyway, that is why "even heroes need to talk" was chosen as a title for this blog. but, secondary to that fact is the truth behind the words. everyone needs a space and permission to talk and vent. so, welcome to my blog. i hope that i do better than i have in past attempts at actually posting often and thoughtfully. i've never really been a big talker, even when i've needed to be. i'm trying to listen to my own advice, especially at a time of big change in my life. i'll talk about it more later, but my life is about to drastically change on several fronts, and the only way i think i'll stay sane and healthy throughout is to get some of it out of my head once in a while. hopefully, my posts will initiate some dialogue with you, random reader.

sidenote: not until i realized that i lost the postcard and was trying to find a way to obtain another copy did i find out that this post card was an advertisement for the NYC health department during the period shortly after 9/11 when the city was trying to cope; it was part of the New York Needs Us Strong Campaign
